AI Overviews are AI-generated summaries Google shows at the top of some search results, with links to the web pages they draw from.

What AI Overviews means
Google launched AI Overviews (first tested as Search Generative Experience) in the US in May 2024 and has since expanded them to many countries and languages. An overview answers the query in a few sentences or a list and links to supporting pages.
Google says there are no special requirements to appear: a page must be indexed and eligible to show a snippet. Clicks from AI Overviews are counted in Search Console's Performance report under the Web search type.
