How to submit a press release to news sites
Most news sites do not take press releases directly from companies; they receive them through newswires, which they have agreements with. To get your release onto news sites, submit it to a newswire with your text, contact details and categories. To reach journalists, email them directly. Newsroom tip forms exist for genuine news but are not a distribution channel.

Submitting through a newswire
The usual steps:
- Choose a wire and package (network, outlets, price). See how to choose a distribution service.
- Paste your headline and body, and add links.
- Add the contact block: company name, contact name, email, website, city and country. Many wires print it at the bottom.
- Pick categories (industry, topic), usually one to five.
- Upload a logo or image if supported.
- Choose the release time or send immediately.
- Pay and submit. The wire's editors review it, may ask for edits, then distribute.
With Citable, these happen on one order page: you pay with an email, write or import the release (or draft it with AI), add the contact block and one to five categories, and submit. The release goes to the wire, and every live link shows on your order page as it appears.
Submitting to journalists
Find the reporters who cover your topic at the outlets you want, and email them individually with a short note and the release in the body. Many outlets list a news tip email or form; use it for genuine news, with the release pasted in.
Free press release sites
Free submission sites exist, but few are read by journalists or indexed well, and some are considered low-quality by search engines. They are fine for an extra copy; do not rely on them for reach.
Passing editorial review
- It is news: something happened, with a date.
- Claims are factual and supportable; no "best", "#1" or guarantees you cannot back.
- A real contact and a working company website.
- No prohibited topics for that wire (often certain financial, medical or adult content).
- Clean formatting: see press release format.
Questions people ask
How long does it take for a release to appear on news sites?
After the wire's review, many sites publish within hours. The first live links usually show up within a day.
Can I choose which sites run my release?
You choose the network or package; within it, sites publish automatically or by their own choice. Ask which outlets are guaranteed.
