Grounding
Grounding is connecting an AI model's answer to verifiable sources, such as live search results, so it states facts it can back up rather than guesses.

What Grounding means
A grounded answer is based on documents retrieved at the time of the question. Google uses the term for Gemini's "Grounding with Google Search"; other assistants do the same thing under different names. Grounding reduces outdated or invented answers, and it is where citations come from.
If an assistant gets facts about your company wrong, the cause is often missing or conflicting sources for it to ground on. Consistent, current information on your site and on third-party pages helps.
